The Postcard Killers follows NYPD detective Jacob Kanon after his daughter is murdered while traveling in Europe. When he learns her death may be connected to a series of killings targeting young couples across multiple cities, Kanon becomes involved in an international investigation to track down the perpetrators. The case is marked by a disturbing pattern, including postcards sent to journalists before the murders occur. As Kanon works with European authorities and a determined journalist, the search for answers becomes both a race against time and an emotionally devastating pursuit of justice.
I absolutely loved this book. I usually lean more toward dark romance, but this crime thriller completely pulled me in and kept me locked in from start to finish. The story is intense and emotional in a way that actually makes you care, not just about solving the case, but about the people caught inside it.
The range of emotions while reading was one of the strongest parts for me. You genuinely feel for Jacob when his daughter is murdered, and that grief stays present throughout the story instead of being used as a quick plot device. Then as the investigation unfolds, you feel anger and tension as the killers almost slip away, and that constant sense of urgency makes it hard to put down.
I also loved the relationship that develops between Jacob and the journalist. It comes out of something horrific, but it feels real and earned. It adds a human element to the story that balances the darker parts of the investigation without taking away from the seriousness of what’s happening.
Honestly, nothing stood out as a major negative for me. The story delivered exactly what I wanted from this kind of thriller: high stakes, emotional weight, and a plot that kept moving.
The Postcard Killers was an incredible crime thriller that gave me everything I love in a darker story: intensity, emotional impact, and characters you can’t help but root for. If you enjoy fast paced investigations, serial killer thrillers, and stories that actually make you feel something while the plot unfolds, I would absolutely recommend this one.
