serial killers, violence, dark romance themes
Scythe and Sparrow is the third book in the series and continues the story of two characters whose lives are shaped by violence, trauma, and morally gray choices. As their paths fully intertwine, the story leans into dark humor, emotional connection, and romance built on mutual understanding rather than innocence. The book balances intense themes with moments of levity, banter, and unexpected warmth, creating a fast paced and engaging continuation of the series.
I absolutely loved this entire series, and book three was so much fun to read. The banter and relationship between the main characters were genuinely sweet and felt well developed, especially considering the dark circumstances surrounding them. Their connection was emotionally satisfying and made the story feel grounded despite the chaos.
One of my favorite parts of this book was Barbara the drugged out raccoon. Hands down one of my favorite characters of all time. She added humor and absurdity in the best way and helped balance out the darker moments of the story.
The spice in this book was definitely there and it was amazing. It felt earned, intense, and well matched to the characters’ relationship rather than thrown in for shock value. The chemistry was strong and made the romantic moments even more rewarding.
Honestly, I don’t have much to criticize here. The book delivered exactly what I wanted as a third installment and felt confident in its tone, pacing, and character dynamics.
Scythe and Sparrow was a standout read and a really strong third book in the series. With great banter, a sweet and satisfying relationship, solid spice, and unforgettable side characters, it was an incredibly enjoyable experience from start to finish. If you’ve enjoyed the series so far, this book is an absolute must read and a perfect continuation of everything that makes it so fun.
